We signed up with Mercury Wireless in Topeka KS after being subjected to constantly rising billings from Verizon.

The first site survey said, "Yeah, great connectivity!" but when the installer arrived, It was, " I don't know man, it would be a lot better is you bought an antenna that I nail to your roof."

I re-scheduled, installed my own 40' mast and had them come back.

All was well until this spring when bandwidth began shrinking. I was paying for 7Mbps and getting less than one."

When I (finally) reached someone at corporate (Indiana) they told me almost immediately that "your signal has been weakened". So, they are aware there is a problem but neglect to say or do anything until someone complains.

"My signal has weakened? How so?"

"We'll have to send out a technician tomorrow."

"OK, let me know what he finds out."

No call back.

I call the 800 number, they read the technician's notes and tell me there is nothing they can do. How about an adjustment for "failure to provide" a contractual obligation?

"Oh, that's not something I can do."

I asked to speak to someone who could do something.

More baloney.

The next story was that, with spring and all, it must be the new leaves on the trees blocking the signal.

I ask to talk to the local office in Topeka. Long pause.

The story in the Topeka office was that over time, between my house and the tower elevations must have changed, that there was no way Mercury could have foreseen this situation, would I like out of my contract?

It was that fast, like the second sentence.

I asked if it could be caused by Mercury selling 128 subscriptions to a 64 node fiber line. Or maybe even 256? Long pause.

That's when I negotiated a new, lower service rate, three months of refunds and began shopping for a new provider.

These folks, in my opinion, are in this for the short haul, until they are run out of business by fiber, and are profit-taking on the backs of ill-informed buyers.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Location: Lecompton, Kansas

This could've been written by us! We had so close to the same experience.

We did call a service tech and he had us plug our computer directly in with the ethernet cable while we rebooted our router. Our notoriously 0.5 mbps download speed miraculously popped up to 6.0 and more! Then, after plugging the ethernet cable back in to the router, we STILL had amazing speeds of between 5 and 6 mbps! After we got off the phone from him, it dropped off to about 2 and over the next couple of days it went back down below 1.

What a scam! I am ready to go back to Verizon (even though I hate the thought of it) now that they have unlimited data.

Do you know how fiber works? Haha but I do think there name is Mercury wireless and don't they use a wireless signal which is the complete opposite of fiber

I get the exact same "leaves on trees" excuse!!!!!

Same excuse here in Columbia City, Indiana, which is close to their corporate HQ. I had the same experience of installing a mast to "Get above the foliage", following the advice of the Service Technician.

Twice, I've had Service Technicians complete a work order saying that they stopped by when no one was home. Both times we were home anxiously awaiting their arrival. Another time they showed up at the neighbors. Mercury Wireless bought out our local ISP.

It's been down hill since then. It definitely appears that they've oversold their service. When I call and complain due to loss of service, I magically have service for 6-12 hours, then it goes dead again.

These folks definitely appear to playing a *** game. Maybe it's time to consider a class action lawsuit...

Sign me up for that lawsuit! In Topeka Kansas, it is also pathetic. From early on, it has not been a good service, connection is hit-and-miss, and the speed is atrocious...especially when compared with the claims.

I and my neighbor are down for the lawsuit as well. Same story as everyone else, unplug your router, reset the radio, tower is getting an upgrade....I just cancelled and they asked why so I told them their service was unreliable and the guy just said okay, thanks.

I really am not a complainer but over two years we've called at least 25 times. It really is that bad. Do not sign a contract with these people.

As soon as the "get out" clause expires speed drops dramatically, almost dial up. i think they oversell and then can't deliver.
